The day that we all work towards. Congratulations to the Thirds and Fourth Footballers on their grand final wins. Unfortunately the 17&U and A grade were not able to come up with the same result and I know they were very disappointed. Remember girls playing in a grand final is still an excellent effort.

The 17&U were the first of our teams to take the court. Two wins one loss to Morwell East to date so this match was never going to be easy. Our girls worked hard throughout never conceding. The first quarter was goal for goal and nothing between the two teams. Morwell East certainly pressured in the second and third quarters to open the lead to eight goals. Some unforced errors were costly but still the game was still within reach. Our girls knew that it was going to be tough to catch their opponents at this stage but to their credit never gave in. They did get the better of Morwell East but not enough. Once again congratulations on your efforts to players and coach Maryanne Rouse their coach. Runners Up in the first MGNA 17&U competition.

The last match of the day our A Grade team. Lots of pressure on these girls, undefeated throughout season 2001 and lining up for the opportunity to win a third flag in three years. Yinnar was certainly wanting to knock the top dogs off. Yinnar took the advantage in the first quarter and took the challenge up to our girls. Mirboo North pressured but unforced errors were costly. At half time the deficit was eleven goals. The challenge was set. A good third quarter saw the gap closing. Yinnar were very determined in the last quarter and must be given credit they pressured and did not want to let the girls come back. Disappointing to loss but girls be proud of the success you’ve had and next year we can work hard again.

Presentation Night is Friday 21^st September 6.30pm at the Shire Hall Mirboo North. Let’s continue to support the club and enjoy this night. Vote count and presentation for all teams football and netball.
